I read an article in the Grand Rapids Press today that said “ventilation increases baby’s safety, study says”. As the article stated, “pediatricians and child-safety advocates for years have recommended that babies be put to sleep alone in a crib in a well-ventilated room.”
But, a new study that was published recently suggested that having a fan operating in a baby’s room could offer additional protection against Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Several years ago, I had a precious nephew die of SIDS. It was so sad!! His name was David. I can still remember holding him and loving him…
Anyway, this article got me thinking that it stands to reason…very simply logic: if a well-ventilated room can help fight SIDS, a room with purified air can most certainly help the situation! If I had known years ago when David was a baby what I know now about indoor air pollution and sick building syndrome, I most certainly would have made sure his mother had an air purifier in his room (one certified by NASA!!!)
Dr. De-Kin Li, an epidemiologist who specialized in infant health at Kasier Permanente’s Division of Research in Oakland, CA and senior author of the report published in the October Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, said, “the sleeping environment of infants matters to their safety.”

Our Bad Economy Has Prompted Unhealthy Eating
This article was posted on EcoQuest Int’l website and I thought it was worth reprinting!
While visiting schools in Little Rock, Arkansas, former President Bill Clinton said economic conditions are causing American families to opt for cheaper, unhealthy foods, which can cause increased risks of obesity and diabetes.
“Families feel constrained to buy cheaper food that fills you up, has more calories, fat and salt and fewer vitamins and nutrients but at least gets you from one meal to the next,” Clinton said.
