Business Networking Groups

I wanted to encourage my readers to look into BNI groups in your area.  This is a fantastic way to network with other professionals and to grow your prospective businesses!  If you live in the Grand Rapids, MI area, I invite you to visit the chapter I am currently President for.  It’s called Team Success Grandville and we have a great group of professionals just waiting to pass referrals to you!  The philosophy behind BNI is “giver’s gain”…you give referrals and you get referrals.  Professionals helping one another.  It’s a great organization!  Check out a local chapter.  You can visit www.bni.com.

Is BNI mostly offline or do they have online networking too? I’m using doing networking on Schmoozii and Linkedin, but I’ll try BNI too if they have online networking.

BNI uses local weekly meetings and has found this to be a very successful way to network and get to know the other members of each chapter. So, to answer your question, no – it isn’t an online networking…it’s an IN PERSON networking system.

In a recent article in a business magazine, three people were asked to setup accounts on myspace.com, linkidin.com, and onather online networking group. The result was no busienss but lots of friends, contacts, and sources of infomartion, except for myspace which is more for socializing than netowrking. So face-to-fce groups really grow a business, not online groups.
